Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

Predictor's League is operated by an individual based in Japan and is subject to Japan's Act on the Protection of Personal Information (APPI). This policy explains what personal data we collect, how we use it, and your rights in relation to that data. By registering or signing up for notifications, you agree to this policy.

2. Data We Collect

• Email address — collected at registration or notification signup.
• Display name / alias — chosen by you at registration.
• Password — stored securely as a hashed credential by Firebase Authentication. We never see or store your plain-text password.
• Google account credentials — if you choose to sign in with Google, we receive your email address and Google account ID. We do not receive your Google password.
• Country — optional, chosen at registration. Used only to display a flag on the leaderboard.
• Favourite team — optional, chosen at registration.
• Charity selection — mandatory, chosen at registration. Used to determine the donation recipient if you win.
• Predicted table — your submitted prediction.
• Score and leaderboard position — calculated automatically from your prediction.
• Private league membership — the leagues you have created or joined.
• Season history — archived scores, ranks, and predictions from previous seasons.
• Payment records — Stripe transaction references only. We do not store card details.

3. How We Use Your Data

• To manage your participation in the competition.
• To calculate and display your score on the public leaderboard.
• To manage private league membership and display league standings.
• To process your entry fee payment via Stripe.
• To arrange the winner's personal monetary gift and charitable donation at the end of the season.
• To send you notifications about the current season, score updates, and future seasons (where you have opted in).
• To contact you in the event of a dispute, disqualification, or display name review.

We will not sell, share, or transfer your personal data to third parties for marketing purposes.

4. Public Information

Your display name, country flag (if provided), score, leaderboard position, and predicted table are publicly visible on the Predictor's League website. Private league names and membership lists are visible to league members only. By registering, you consent to your public information being displayed as described. If you wish to use a pseudonym, you may do so at registration.

5. Account Security

Your account is protected by email and password authentication, or Google Sign-In. You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure. If you forget your password, you can reset it via the sign-in page.

6. Email Notifications & Unsubscribing

Registered participants may receive email notifications about score updates, season milestones, and future seasons. You can unsubscribe at any time from your dashboard. Unsubscribing stops all non-essential communications; you may still receive emails directly related to your account such as dispute responses or data request replies.

7. Data Retention

Your account data and season history are retained for as long as your account exists or as required for historical records. If you request account deletion, your personal data will be removed within a reasonable period, subject to operational requirements.

8. Your Rights (APPI)

Under APPI and as a matter of good practice, you have the right to:

• Request access to the personal data we hold about you.
• Request correction of inaccurate data.
• Request deletion of your data (subject to operational requirements).
• Unsubscribe from notification emails at any time via your dashboard or by contacting us.

9. Cookies & Analytics

Predictor's League may use basic analytics tools to understand site traffic and usage patterns. No personally identifiable information is used for analytics. We do not use advertising cookies or share data with advertisers.

10. Security

Your data is stored securely using Firebase (Google) infrastructure. Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text. We do not store card information — all payment data is handled by Stripe. We take reasonable technical measures to protect your personal information from unauthorised access or disclosure.

11. Third-Party Services

Predictor's League uses the following third-party services: Firebase (Google) for authentication, database, and hosting; Google Sign-In for optional OAuth authentication; Stripe for payment processing; Resend for transactional email. Each service operates under its own privacy policy.

12. Non-Affiliation

Predictor's League is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or associated with any professional football league, club, governing body, or commercial partner.

13. Changes to This Policy

This policy may be updated from time to time. Registered participants will be notified of significant changes by email. The current version is always available on the Predictor's League website.
